Good stuff Jim. Maybe they need a gigacap index or just find a method to limit percentage of the index when the cap gets too big.

More than anything else it's the Monster Cap (275.5Bil ) piece of crap MSFT..& it keeps flooding the
market with shares and it holds such a big percentage of the S&P and NDX..as
well as being in the DOW..it has a PE of 27 and PS of 8.65...
and if you take it out of the S&P, then the S&Ps average PE would drop to about 15..

thats a pretty amazing piece of info. If true that means that the markets are much cheaper than they appear on the surface.

I don't hold much prospect of msft as a growth company at this point. In ten years that could look like a really stupid statement I guess but thats how I feel.

Dont be absurd.
Out of 500 companies in the S&P taking MSFT out would do diddly squat. PE of 15? It moght lower it from 43 to 41 or something like that on a core earnings basis. On a gaap basis perhaos from 33 to 32, and on a pro forma basis who knows or cares cause it is all lies anyway.

As for the Naz, MSFT is one of about 3-5 companies in the index that actually makes any profit. There are no overall earnings on any kind of GAAP basis on the naz 100. Taking MSFT out would hurt not help. Yes it does hold a huge % of the Naz but without it, naz PE would suffer even more.
