Independent of that fact they collectively allowed the character assassination of an American citizen who was serving his country and doing his duty. The whole point of the cold war was to protect all American citizens. Joe MaCarthy was destroyed. Who did Joe MaCarthy hurt? All liberals participated or silently stood by. That is not an egregious mistake. Mr. Pipes and the judicial nominations being blocked are the same thing today. It's just today that it seems no liberals who would have supported the cold war remain. There may be a token few.
