RE:"Barbara Streisand pays 2K in property taxes, what do you pay?"

Since she's such a "do-gooder" and for "fairness" I'm sure she will volunteer for the sound-bite, too...<G>

They might be able to increase the amount the taxes can rise per year, but making it effective for only part of the population isn't going to fly. Already there are those of us stuck paying extra for those bonds they put on new homes. Despite that.......... I wrote out checks for my kids to attend public High School for $400 each yesterday. That doesn't include fees for classes which will likely run $125 per class per kid and extra fees for sports. We even have to pay a fee for printing out handouts and bring our own paper to school!

We're in a mess no doubt, but we knew this before the election. Davis knew too unless he was blind.

Still.......... I'll bet the state is underestimating income from property taxes on reassessed homes that have sold and cap. gains and next year I bet we see higher employment.......... and more payroll taxes.

Btw.......... there is a mechanism in our county to differentiate between homeowners who live there and those who don't. Those who do get a 7,000 reduction in assessed value. Big deal, huh? But when properties were priced lower (30,000), it was a big deal.
