Well I learn something new every day... I'd never compared MDY to SPY. Very interesting.

Percent Change, Monthly, Comparing MDY and SPY, as measured from:

From Aug 31 1998
trendvue.com

From Aug 31 2000
trendvue.com

From Sept 30, 2002
trendvue.com

Now if someone is a half decent market timer, the SPX seems to be the instrument of choice. Unless you happen to be good at timing the QQQ...

From May 31 1999
trendvue.com

From Sept 30, 2002
trendvue.com

Anyway, thanks for raising the MDY - I'd never done the comparison, although I've put these percent change charts up frequently in the past.

Here's to timing,
mw

One of my favorite mutual funds is a mid-cap fund. HFCGX. Returned 20% from 2000-2003 and is up 25% so far this year. I keep it in one of my IRAs and forget it's there. -g

Some nice posts, Cap'n.
