<< the Mustang Ranch, >>

Joe Comeforte owned it. Got nailed for $10 million in back taxes. He moved to Rio and formed an investors group of one. Bought it back for 10 cents on the dollar.

A state built on gambling revenues

Mostly true, historically, although there has been a lot of diversification into other areas recently. NV has a very business friendly environment, and no state income taxes.

the Mustang Ranch

Currently out of business. The Feds actually own the place now. I hear that some former "working girl" employees are trying to re-open it. BTW, there are around 20 legal brothels in NV, all in rural counties, and most way out in the middle of nowhere. I think it's great that this little bit of the Old West carries on in this day and age.

future nuclear waste storage

I live less than 100 miles from Yucca Mountain and I say "Bring it on". Doesn't bother me a bit, although many here are strongly opposed. It's as good a place as any to bury the stuff.

Nevada's a bigger fantasy land than Hollywood.

Nevada is a wonderful place to live and work. Las Vegas and the Reno/Carson/Tahoe area are a couple of the fastest growing locales in the US. Freedom is still alive here, there's room to breathe. It's the antithesis of the over taxed, over regulated, over crowded, bankrupt California nanny state.
