The Israeli/Palestinian conflict has become an endless stream of tit-for-tat retaliations for so long that it is hard to see who is retaliating for what. They have entered into a game that has no winner until one is brave enough to stand up and declare an end.

Although the Israelis have resorted to tactics that are inhuman, the Palestinians are not free from guilt. Suicide bombings of civilian targets is simply indefensible, regardless of the cause. They continuously lose in the court of world opinion by these attacks, with Arafat's implicit consent (if not active role). This is a situation where Gandhi's non-violence would probably work, but Arafat is a terrorist and cannot be seen as a true leader of men. Until he is gone, I fear there will be no peace.
