This book review of Edward Said's new edition of "Orientialism" is outstanding. It is impossible to top Hitchens for this type of article. Thanks for posting this Hitchens' essay, Bill. Terrific read. Until he reinvokes his virulent self to attack Said. And does it in a way that ridicules himself. But that's only the last two or three or four paragraphs. The rest is informative, judicious, well written, wonderful stuff. He just should have had enough sense to stop when the stopping was good.
