Sad but true! I completely agree with you. The more I consider it, the more I realize that waiting for the elusive "capex" to pick up isn't going to generate the kind of recovery people are looking for in tech. What we need is the next big thing, the fact is most software and a whole bunch of other stuff is mature tech by now. Mature techs are subject to cost cutting so this should come as no surprise. The new areas are in the media and consumer techs, the VoD stuff and the consumer appliances Apple is working on. There are some good things in there so no need to languish on the passe.
