BEIJING (AFX-ASIA)

BEIJING (AFX-ASIA) - The People's Bank of China, the country's central bank, said it will issue a total of 60 bln yuan in discounted bank bills tomorrow to ensure steady growth of the nation's money supply and to maintain stable interest rates in the monetary markets.

In a statement, the central bank said it will issue 30 bln yuan in 3-month bank bills, 15 bln yuan in 6-month bills and another 15 bln yuan in one-year bills separately tomorrow.

The payment date for the bills will be Aug 20.

China's broad M2 money supply was up 20.7 pct year-on-year at 20.62 trln yuan at the end of July, a growth rate 0.1 percentage points lower than at end-June, the PBoC said earlier this month.

The central bank said on its website the high M2 growth rate shows the current money supply growth is "a bit over-fast."
