It's the evergreen payments. You pay it off and they make 1% on the purchase. You don't and they suck your money for 18% for life. New purchases get nailed from the get go so it's even worse.

Friend Mike came to me 6 years ago. His new wife had $20,000 debt on her cards from being a single mom. His financing had run out on building his new house, that's a long tale but he did it on the cheap, and he'd lose the house, 5 acres and pond. I gave him the $20 large and he got a new mortgage plus covered the $20 large. He paid me back. One check and we all got happy.
