Lizzie,

Re: "Low prestige assigned to work". That is the societal killer.

Actually, what is killing off the American Dream is the failure to invest in the capital goods of tomorrow.

The most egregious example this past week has been the weak electron-toss grid in the Middle East of the North American Continent.

While endless ink and electrons are wasted on chattering about this in the American media, greatly increasing the public's already astonishing ignorance, the BBC has succinctly summed up our arrogance in one chart. (Currently unavailable on the North American continent due to the information embargo.)

news.bbc.co.uk

What the chart shows is that since Ronald Reagan was installed as the Teflon Don, the U.S. consumption of electricity has increased by 40%, while the investments in transmission cables and switches has decreased by 50%.

This is a recipe for disaster.

What we've just witnessed is just the beginning of Republican Party chaos. The Republican Party is destroying the future, so that the people who bribe it can haul off a lot of profits to their off-shore tax havens next quarter.

Are you curious about why Arnold Schwarzenegger met with the biggest criminal in the electricty world, Ken Lay, in LA in 2001, and refuses to talk about it? Maybe you ought to be. TROJAN HORSE
