Danley, Colonel (ret.) U.S. Army, has joined CombiMatrix Corporation as its Director, Homeland Security and Defense Programs. Dr. Danley's responsibilities will include all of CombiMatrix's defense related activities, including the joint development of its proprietary products for the detection of biological and chemical warfare agents. Dr. Danley, who retired earlier this month, was Project Manager of the Chemical Biological Medical Systems and Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program for the Department of Defense, where he developed critical new vaccine efforts against smallpox, anthrax, and other deadly agents. His responsibilities included advanced development FDA licensure and fielding of medical products against chemical and biological threat agents and for rapid diagnostic systems. Previously, Dr. Danley served as Commander of the U.S. Army Center for Environmental Health Research, where he started a program to develop and evaluate small, low power sensor technologies for toxic compounds. Dr. Danley also served as the Assistant Program Manager for the Joint Program Office for Biological Defense where he initiated the Department of Defense Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program for the development of biological defense vaccines. Dr. Danley was a pioneer in bringing FDA certification to military medical products. He has interacted extensively and at the highest levels with civilian agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Department of Homeland Security.
