The Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis probably will be striking a deal, but it may be against the US. They do not trust us AT ALL. They are trusting us less and less, and hating us more and more, as each day goes by. They did not ask us in. I know some here see us as a liberating army, but I do not think the average Iraqi ever saw us that way, and to them I think we are looking more and more like a dangerous occupying army. They do not believe there is a "best way" with the US, and they want us out ASAP. Of course some educated Iraqis know what you and I know, that all out civil war will break out if the US leaves. But many Iraqis would prefer that to the US- probably because they think their faction would win. Is that "irrational"? No more irrational than our invasion of Iraq, also based on false assumptions.
