almost impossible for a liberal Democrat to gain the Presidency How can you say that after Gore won the popular vote and missed winning the electoral vote by a very narrow margin? A small state like New Hampshire or West Virginia would have made the difference. It is entirely possible for a Democrat to win without carrying a single Southern state.
