All that really happened was that his need to protect himself and his family from embarrasment intersected with a fine point of law.

It was not a fine point at all. He actually halted the critical discovery phase of the case. It is to be expected that he would do this if he thought he could do it successfully. But here is the problem: he actually thought he could be successful and he was right.

It does not mean that he is not a law abiding citizen otherwise.

There is a law, he broke it. He therefore did not abide by the law. Perhaps he abides by most laws. That is really not at issue. The issue is that he was allowed use of his office, his influence, such that he was able to openly break the law (and this repeatedly) without sufferring the repercussions any other American would suffer under the same circumstances.

This principle works against everyone today. It is why the rich keep getting richer and why they just don't give a damn about yall. They are the smart money, and they know that yall don't care about yaselves enough to uphold your ideals. If they can get something cheaper by hiring Indians, they are gonna do it because there is really nothing so special about America that they should spend doubly to support Americans and not themselves. Bill Clinton was simply smart money pal. No real reason for him to uphold, at his own expense, what he knew no one else cherished.

[it is not] a measure of his ability to lead this country.

Hehe. Ok. Fine. I just saw where some guy had a job he wanted done. Ten Americans offerred to do it for anywhere between $18,000 and $25,000. a handful of Indians offered to do it for between $1,500 and $4,500. Screw yall, pal. America is finished.

The whole story was raised to a crescendo by the Repubilcan dirty tricks department, spearheaded by Linda Tripp and Ken Starr.

Fine. I am no Republican myself. I think the GOP is pretty much a bunch of goofballs. But I will never forget how the GOP defended our system. I generally vote GOP because, though that party is just plain stupid, it is clearly the best thing going when it comes to American politics.
