I suspect the people whom they interview are a lot more representative than the people Mr. Friedman talks with- if only because Mr. Friedman is probably in a lot more danger from average Iraqis than the reporters for the ME news, and on top of that I doubt they would want to talk to him.

Yep... obviously you need to read some of his books..

"bias" is a mild word for most of the Arab press. There is only one side of the story they're interested in. Even if Iraqis are deeply suspicious of the Americans and resentful of a foreign occupation, which is easy to believe, it doesn't mean they don't resent even more an Arab press which wholly sided with Saddam and couldn't care less about 300,000+ Iraqis who died at his hands.
