There are penalties now, I believe, for allowing under 17's into (for example) R rated movies (I thought the penalties were enforced by the MPAA- but maybe not- will try to check on that). I'm not sure what the penalties are, but they seem to work, since our theatre does check. So, I'd like the agency (the MPAA) to tighten up the ratings, although they would need a good kick in the ass from the public to do it. But I am willing to kick them, and so are many other people. They have a web site, btw, wo feel free to write them. I have, and I encourage other people to write them as well. Apparently if you tell them you are liberal they will listen more attentively- so you conservatives out there, but your liberal bunny suits on when you write.

I think X is right about how to approach this, at least the movie part. If the lefties and righties agree on this issue--and you know how rare that is--we could get the standards changed. No one's freedoms would be affected. The only loser is the movie business, which may do less, at least for a while until they figure out how to make appealing movies without all that crap. Or until the kids who have never seen it grow up not expecting it. And we'd have to do the same thing for music and music videos and rock concerts and other public events. Kids either go with a parent or they don't go. The people in the entertainment biz will learn how to find other ways to appeal. Maybe they could go to school off the Christian entertainment industry. <g>
