Hey dude. I had a rough three days. I'm taking over
management of our NFL Football competition - 31 players from
all around the country. My buddy & I are automating it. We
have a website & software to automat the process of
tracking picks & standings, etc.

On Sunday I loaded some software to convert files to .pdf
files (Adobe Acrobat). When this software opens, it tries to
connect to the internet. My Dell has this quirky
programming built in to automatically send hotlinks like
that to this DellNet by MSN page. Unfortunately it doesn't
connect to the internet. I've always worked around this
quirk, but this software automatically opens the DellNet
page. I can't do anything to stop it. Since a browser
doesn't open, it tries again & again & again until it has
opened so many pages that there aren't enough resources &
the computer crashes.

We spent hours & hours on the phone with Dell Tech trying to
correct this problem. Instead, I ended up with more
problems & my original problem was not resolved. I lost my
MSN Explorer & about 200 favorites, ET AL. When I downloaded
IE 6.0, it was linked to the DellNet page & would not open
the browser.

I had to reinstall Windows ME & play around with the
registry & delete a lot of stuff which scared the heck out
of me cause I am no programing expert. I finally got it to
work this morning after working through the night the last
two nights. I still don't know if I have screwed up other
parts of the computer, but I have internet access again.

Just in time too. The regular NFL season is less than two
weeks away & I have to deal with a lot of folks who have
loads of questions about the website, etc. (my buddy who
managed the competition for more than 10 years now, kept
track of everything manually). We still have to work out any
bugs in our system too. That should be interesting. Funny
how stuff works well in theory & practice, then goes haywire
in the real world.

Anyway, I'm taking the night off & going out for the first
time since surgery to see how my knee/back holds up (other
than the Y, rehab & my mom's).

We're going to a Jethro Tull concert :-)

Hopefully it will hurt so good :-
Sitting on a park bench..........

RR,

Just got back from Tahoe a couple of hours ago. What a loud vacation. 6 kids under 13, plus a few of the older nephews (18-25) along for the ride. Good thing we had separate condos instead of renting one big cabin. Sleep was at a premium as it was. <G>

Its always good to be home though.

Howdy Gang! How did everyone fair this week? Had to go out of town the past three days, so no market action for me.

How about that market! Hanging in there.

Still think we best watch for a pull back. Gotta set up that end of year bull run.
