Port Wing. Good Lord. Most people have never even begun to hear of that. I have spent tons of time in the Apostle Islands area Cornucopia, Bayfield, Washburn, the Chequamegon NF etc etc etc. Fell thru the ice on Madeline Island one winter at Big Bay state park. I went halfway in. On knee slammed into the ice but the other leg fell thru and i was more or less dangling over. My knee completely swelled up and I had an extremely hard time driving. Left knee and car with clutch. The pain did not go away for 6 months. It was the middle of July and all of a sudden I realized "Hey my knee is not hurting anymore" It took that long! It is still not very strong but the pain is gone, and that was 10 years ago now. M
