Abbas has one last chance. The tanks are getting gassed up while we speak. Maybe just a few days before the israelis move. A nation just cant allow this carnage to occur, particularly when it violates a cease fire.
As for the UN it is time for the feckless organization to step up to the plate along with the europeans to help the US in iraq. Saw ken pollack on cnn and he said much the same. US cant deploy more troops because we dont have enough to have more than 150k tied up in iraq. It is time for the civilized world to take a stand. And if a stand is not made to pacify iraq, we will have no choice to make this purely a military op to defeat the terrorists without gaining the love of the iraqis or we can just leave i guess. Also iraqis need to stand up too. They can cheer when an american gets shot but iraq without america gone offers them a view of hell which makes even the rule of saddam pale. Mike

They (the guerillas) are hoping to help the US continue to make the same mistake again and again and again (and of course the US is doing just that). They are hoping to keep the UN out of the war. They are hoping the US will keep making the mistake of not letting the UN play a meaningful role.
