"It was part of the plan, get them moving, out of their natural environment, and hit them on the move"

I love your spin! Kind of a variant of the "Bring it on" school of thought? Stupidity is often a better explanation then conspiracy, and I doubt very much the men touting a short war and happy welcoming Iraqis envisioned this scenario, nor, I suspect, will it be easy to handles this scenario.

I am not at all sure it will work out that way. There are no locals equipped to fight and even if there were they have to be petrified of what will happen if the terrorists drive the US out in some fashion. Forget mogadishu for a sec, and remember vietnam at the end. Those who helped us holding on to the helicopters as the north vietnamese/vc entered saigon. So the iraqis have reason to worry and the burden rests on the US to kill the bastards without too much in the way of collateral damage. Hopefully this wont become palestine #2 or vietnam #2. We must crush the bad guys at once. We must give the iraqis a roadmap to self rule. We must build an iraqi army. We need help from our allies regardless of how differently they look at the world. Daunting task to say the least but i believe we must succeed here. mike
