It should be sufficient for the parent to say no. We have set up a system where we assume and expect that some children will disobey their parents. So, of course, they will. We also assume and expect that no parents are willing to allow their children to see the movie without the parent also having to sit through it.

I don't have an alternative on the tip of my tongue, but I'm sure there are a number that could work.
