I think that joke perhaps was true before 1960s. And now I would not rate ethnic groups with the social class, but I would according to income. Wonder why O.J. Simpson could kill two white people and got away with it?? And plenty of low-income white people are worse off than fluent Asians and African Americans now in the US. And what I talked about "career advancement" of Chinese in the US is in terms of political and social status, not in terms of enconomic status. I would say economically, some Chinese couples who both majored science, and both got PhD degrees, and both are employed are among the top 10% of wealthiest US taxpayers.
