"Begin was a terorist in his time..."

Begin was indeed a terrorist in his time and so is Arafat. Begin's actions are no different than Arafat's. In time, if the Palestinians win, Arafat will be named Prime Minister and have currency bearing his image.

Begin's terrorism made Israel a country. Unfortunately, the same argument can be made about Arafat's terrorism. I don't see Israelis denouncing Begin's terrorism. I don't see them apologizing for the thousands of lives lost in the struggle to build their nation. Unfortunately, this is a reality in birth of any nation. Ask Americans, Italians, French, or even the Russians.

Although bloodshed is the reality of nation building, one would hope that another alternative would be explored. One which would avoid bloodshed.
