The solutions are not easy. OTOH, if something is not done soon and drastically the US might as well cede California back to Mexico and wipe the deficit off the books.

Seems like they have reached the end of the rope.
Unfortunately, what California is, the rest of the US may become.

<5. Legalize drugs and tax them big time. Create an export business, tax exports heavily.>

This might save CA. We produce good drugs here, as well as consuming a hell of a lot of them. It would just give Bush a reason to invade though.
I've concluded Prop 13 is as safe as the mortgage interest deduction. Neither will be rescinded.

....Now here is my plan:....

Forget all that and vote out all incumbents and fire all state employees. Start all over like Reagan with the air traffic controllers. You want a job this is your wages this is your retirement. And put them into the SS system. There's plenty that will take your place. Lower sales tax and lower income tax.
I have decided to change my name to 'None Of The Above' and run as a write-in candidate for governor. I can be just as unelectable as the majority look to be. Even more so than that porn star or that Different Strokes child actor has-been. A vote for me is a vote for no one. How can you go wrong?
