Rascal,
Very interesting post although i find it hard to believe that the iraqis allowed this to happen. Perhaps victory was too quick allowing some of the bad guys to escape and plan. Maybe assymetric warfare that we employ is too sanitary and doesnt create the need to surrender as in past wars.
But as i said before, its where we go from here that counts. Bushbashing is no answer--neither is not fessing up to mistakes in planning and execution by the admin. And reconciliation will all allies(except france) would be a good thing and i believe both sides know this now. I would just love it if we could agree on those two points. mike
PS I predict that cheney will not be on the ticket(health reasons will be the excuse) and that bush will go for a fresher, non-neocon face. Am thinking now on who that can be for that person, assuming a bush victory, would be the nominee in 2008. Pataki in NY comes to mind. He is in his fourth term and not nearly as popular as he once was but nationally it would play well. And perhaps he could help bush carry new york.
