I just heard Grey Davis has a new plan to solve the crisis. Apparently, the polls show recall succeeding. To avoid losing office this year, it has been decided that they can not get the ballots together for quite some time, something to do with some dude named 'Chad', used to be a judge, called him hanging Chad.

Recall will have to be postponed due to technical difficulties.

<<<California was little affected by Orange County's bankruptcy>>>

My understanding that Orange County's bankruptcy was not because of budget problems. OC just lost a few billion $$ because the guy was gambling. I think California crisis is very different. IMO state tax income will continue to shrink and instituting more taxes will not help. RE will eventually fall, so even if Prop 13 is repealed if won't help much.

....I expect a California default to have similar minimal impact on the US.....

Very wrong. And not in line with what Buffett said this morning at A.S's budget meeting. "So goes California so goes the nation"
