We don't let kids in to X rated movies, they can't smoke, they can't gamble, and they can't drink (and they can't do lots of other things)- I think most parents are ok with regulations that protect kids. The very few who aren't, can rent all the videos they want for their kids. Seems irresponsible to me, but parents have some latitude to be irresponsible, I just don't think they can remove sensible restrictions that most parents favor in order to exercise their freedom from responsibility.

If the community really felt that viewing certain material was so potentially damaging that children should not be aloowed to view those materials in public at all, whether or not with a parent or adult, I'm not sure I would personlall vote for that law, but I think it would be legal to pass such a law. Then if parents wanted the children to watch those movies, they would have to go rent them themselves and show them to their chidren in the privacy of their homes.

I guess I could live with that, though it offends my libertarian soul.
