Nowadays in several big cities, it is quite normal, if both couples have job, that the family income will be >6,000 Yuan/month. I read on those Chinese forums, some of young college graduates, they got paid for 9,500 Yuan/monthly for their first job. Most of my friends and relatives in Beijing have paid cash to buy their apartments (they are not expensive to start with), and bought cars, and drive to work. And they are just regular government workers.

And I know some Chinese now went back to China from the US with a contract of >200,000 Yuan/year salary for teaching in unviersity in China. And last time I read from People's Daily, ShenYang city gov. recruits middle-level manager with 200,000/year salary.

How long have you not gone back to China for a visit? maybe you should go back and seeing is believing<g>. and the change is dramatic, and a lot of people in cities are really much richer. Just visit some of your old classmates, and see the way they spend the money. You should get an idea how better off they are. One thing I know for sure, the overseas Chinese like us are known to be stingy when we go back for a visit. And one of my cousin even told me that she felt like coming from countryside when she went back to Beijing<g>, both in terms of clothing and make up, and the way to spend the money<g>.

I am not saying there is no losers. A lot of people who are >40 years of age are forced to XiaGang with around 500 Yuan/month. and for them, the life is pretty hard.

I agree that many college graduates are not easy to get a job. But one reason for this is that a lot of them just want to stay in cities. And if they do not mind relocate, a lot of them would get a job.

>>Many people has to sign the contract, renew and review on the yearly base so your boss can screw you. <<

This is what you get under market economy. Isn't it the same thing in the US?
