It does seem like a ripe target. Surprising they'd leave it alone all this time. You've got something rare there. Enjoy it while you've got it!

What would be really interesting would be if they would have a presentation by an atheist denying the existence of God

I think the mural is lovely.

You never answered my question about why your symbol of tradition has to be the Ten Commandments, given that they have a lot of baggage. Would you be content for Alabama to replace the TC with the mural? Seems to me the mural is more on target as a symbol for what you claim is being symbolized.

Regarding the TC and their relevance in a courthouse, there are only three or four of them that have anything to do with a court of law. Murder and stealing are illegal. Adultery is still illegal in some places. And of course bearing false witness is relevant. The rest of them are strictly religious commandments. Since the Commandments regarding illegal activities are redundant, given that they're in the law, the only unique one is the one about false testimony. Perhaps a reasonable compromise would be to have that one commandment displayed as a reminder to those religious folks who would and do lie under oath? I think an adequate secular basis could be found for that. Would that satisfy you?
