I was just going to say, what is the state doing messing around with a religious institution like marriage?

It probably has something to do with divorce and being a type of property registry and enforcing child support payments after the religious feelings have gone away.

You may not have been following the thread while we were talking about that. IMO, religious institutions should marry people based on their own criteria and leave the state out of it. Do you think it might be feasible to resolve the marriage issue that way? Makes more sense to me than a Constitutional Amendment.
