We were talking not about a general issue but about a specific situation. How would you apply your principles to that situation?

I was talking about the general issue of Christian prayers and religious symbols in scenarios where they're attached to the authority of the state. As far as this particular issue is concerned, I wouldn't have a clue as to how to diffuse it. The judge acts like he's on something, perhaps just the thrill of the fight.

As for the general issue, I think it parallels the way the discussion is going here. I've made a number or arguments and a number of overtures but I have no indication that anyone is actively listening. I've asked for further info in a number of areas to increase my understanding but still await responses. I've made some observations but they've apparently gone unnoticed. I feel like I'm talking to the wall. That is the problem in a microcosm. If we can't even listen here and constructively apply ourselves to opportunities for consensus, how can the larger community do it. Well we can and they could if people would just take a breath and try, but that's not nearly as much fun as ranting, I guess.
