And whatever I know about optics in the East, it was always Jena ie Carl Zeiss East and nothing else. If one forgets the dark, despairing years, the two companies coming out of the ruins are both doing fine, Carl Zeiss Jena (reunited) and Jenoptic. And Jena is growing back into its (centuries old) role of strong University cum industry Research & Development place.
