It's bid, not bd. Basically, it's on the floor and the market makers or specialists are generally the other side of the trade. They buy on the bid and sell on the offer side of the quote. That's how they make their money. They constantly buy low and sell high. So, if you see a trade priced at the bid, that means actual customers are selling to the market makers or specialist. If you see one trade on the ask side of the quote, that means the client was buying and the specialist is selling.
