You just mentioned the only two of Ian Banks' books that I have read

Consider yourself born under a lucky star.

I started out with Use of Weapons, which was interesting for its apocalyptic, war-permeated atmosphere, war mentality, etc. I thought it could be better if the hero had a clue what the war was about, but it was not bad. It ended on such a stupid note that I had to marvel at the guy for thinking this would be an interesting, surprise ending. In all, not all that great, really...

Player of Games was interesting only because of the thought of the Game. Good idea, lousy execution.

I thought Inversions was quite good, but not really because it is a great sci-fi novel. I found the issues it discusses interesting, but then again, that may be a purely feminine area of interest - love, betrayal, consequences, etc. That it is one of the better Banks books is not saying much within the universe of sci-fi literature, unfortunately...

Are any of the other "Culture" books worth reading? they are hard to find.

If you don't mind paying for the delivery, I don't mind sticking the books I have here in a box and sending them to you. I cannot bring myself to throw books away and they are taking up quite a chunk of my library space.
