Where are they paying 80 cents to do 500 shares?

For very active traders, some brokers are charging 0.3 to 0.5 cents per share, with pass through of all ECN fees and/or rebates.

A trader paying 0.35 cps, for example, could post a 500 share order on the ISLD book and subsequently get executed. Their cost for this trade would be $1.75 minus the $1.00 ECN rebate (0.2 cps for an executed order adding liquidity), or $0.75.
