For example, what happens if the US stops being Israel's friend?

Long-term, it would be bad news for Israel. Short-term, it would practically be an advantage, as the cost of US friendship has been extraordinally high for Israel. In practical terms, US friendship has kept Israel on a short leash, letting it defend itself a little bit, but never permitting it to fight the Oslo War to win it. Why is Arafat still alive and directing terror from Ramallah? Do you think that Sharon's idea? If the US became a neutral, who could stop Sharon from deporting the terrorists?
