ain't you, mister.

Careful who you call "ignorant"

...

If I tell you those guys in some university in Egypt don't matter in conjuring up a Jihad, it's because they don't.

As I said

It would be easy to dismiss your post as merely another manifestation of appalling ignorance.

But from previous conversations, I already knew of your ME background - although I don't know the specifics. Just where in the ME - Turkey? If so, where in Turkey? What struck me earlier was the anomalous nature of your ME perspective. If it was just my views and yours, then your experience would trump mine. But from my perspective, it's your views against those of Arabs (many with credentials from respected universities), which leaves you with the "short end of the stick".

OTOH, I've never viewed Authority as the preferred epistemological technique. So since there seems to be a difference between you and others as to the significance of Al Azhar to Sunni Muslims, how about an elaboration of your view. In particular, do you believe anyone has the standing within the Muslim community to call a jihad (lesser variety) to expel “unbelievers”? And within the Sunni community, what “entity” do you think has the preeminent religious position?

Less pontification, and more information would be appreciated.
