Sorry Lorne, but I really believe you got me all wrong. Whatever gave you the idea that I don't like Jews?

Fact of the matter is that I don't like scumbags. Whether you are white or black, Jewish or Christian, fat or skinny, it doesn't make a difference to me. Scum is scum. For instance, I will never defend a crook simply because he may be Italian. On the contrary, I hope he gets arrested because he disgraces a community.

Some people here choose to defend Israel at all cost, despite evidence which indicates that in some instances Israel was or is wrong. It is this attitude of "defend at all cost" which i find intolerable. When someone points out that such a stand is wrong, ie, criticizing one group for killing children while defending another group for doing same, one is labelled anti-semitic.

I just thought I'd let you know that I have a lot of admiration for most Jews. In general, they are a group in our society which others should emulate. However, I despise anyone who is a hypocrite. And there are many of those here on this board.

Now you tell me, does criticizing Israel on a particular issue make me a bigot or anti-semite? I personally don't think so. But some prefer labelling rather than supporting their argument.

You have made some excellent rational arguments. You will get posts back from someone who says he is not a bigot, yet makes statements like "Jews and Arabs are among the most racist" or just answers posters with name calling rants. This is the same type of person who will go back and find commentaries thousands of years old and claim that this defines a group today. That person objects when he is shown similar commentaries (about other religions) concerning today's religious leaders who have abused their leadership roles. Yet, that person doesn't see the difference between bad people and the group from which he wishes to place the bad people.

Quite frankly - how anyone could defend Jews all the time or Arabs or Italians or Greeks all the time or any group is very similar to those saying a particular group should be categorized negatively because of the actions of a few.

Lorne,

Years ago I would arrest 30 people in any given month. On average, 29 were white and one was not. Do you know how often month after month the one single non-white would cry racism. "Lady, you are not being arrested because of the color of your skin, it's because you have $400 worth of unpaid jewelry stuffed in your pockets."

The cry of racism is too often spoken by those who use race to their advantage.

A resident bigot uses such tactics. Anyone who opposes his views is labelled a racist. Try arguing his views and you'll be called a racist too.

Bystanders often simply listen and form judgements themselves based on false accusations without looking at the facts. I strongly suggest you look at the one crying foul. Follow his exchanges with others, See how often those in disagreement are called racists. And then you'll be in a better position to form your own opinion.

Cheers,

Vince
