<<Unfortunately the world view outside the US is reflective of the anti Israel views we see on this thread so
frequently.>>
Yes, I have to agree that view is so pervasive and long-standing it cannot be changed. It is the reason a home had to be found for the Jews after WW2. Back in the 1930's they were known more as wanderers and merchants, at a time when bankers or capitalists were somewhat frowned upon and regarded as insensitive and strange or different
I met a lot of Jewish students in college back in 1941. We had Italian Jews studying law (a noisy crowd), perhaps 4 Russian Jews studying engineering, German Jews.
Generally friendly and sociable., but many did try to convince one of their thinking and positions far more than the average person would. As an engineer and country boy, I was not all that much into politics or discussions of world views.
And they had no interest in hunting ,fishing, dances, or sports they were not involved in ( one was good tennis player) which is understandable since they were from cities like NYC or Rochester.
So perhaps from my perspective they are not a fun-loving crowd, more involved in politics and discussion which of course does lead to contention and locked-in positions as we see on this thread.
Frankly, I do not remember the Nationality of more than one or two other students, so why do I remember the Jewish ones? Go figure.....
Contentious might be the word. Might even find one or two on the Thread
