SYMC. This weeks virus isn't the first virus. It isn't the last. The need for virus software didn't just appear out of thin air, its been there. SYMC was $42 two or three weeks ago, and they were talking overvaluation based on the already high PE on earnings estimates. Why pay $54 in the midst of a knee-jerk induced demand spree?

By the way. Do not send me a virus to change my opinion <g>

All of your points are very valid.....have been for years.
Getting hit yourself just "brings the issue home". It is also probably true that the US information services infrastructure is more vulnerable today than ever as it relates to a target for terrorists. The problem is the products and services of Symantec will do nothing to stop that threat.

If you plan on holding for 3-5 years and know the issues relative to competitive threats and are comfortable with management and the balance sheet then go for it.

I'll pass at this price point.

Larry SYMC

nope, not interested in it for a short

re: does price matter for a 3-5 year hold?
price ALWAYS matters

I don't know a single stock where I would have a 100% confidence level for a 5 year hold

but if one really wants to buy this one why not a leg in?

OT

I'm spending a lot of my time these days dealing with elderly parent health issues and for my own mental health still fishing/wishing but not catching giant bluefin tuna
stocks are on the middle/back burner
hard to believe Summer is near an end so darn fast
