It's not dumb at all. As I described it. The program is loaded from computer A and it's display is on computer B. But where an application is displayed the mouse and keyboard of the machine where it is displayed have control. But the program is running and loaded on computer A.

Now in toms.homeip.net

You see the green text screen.

This is even more layered.

On computer angle, I started an xterm, the blue one below the green. That xterm is running on angle. In that xterm I run...

xterm -sb -sl 5000 -fn 9x15 -bg #308030 -fg yellow -geometry +50+50 -exec ssh skipjack &

That starts the the green xterm on angle displayed on angle and also does a secure shell to watmman.com. I am now looking at watman.com in NJ in the green window.

But in the green xterm I could type in mozilla -display "myip":0 and a mozilla would start in NJ on watman.com and display back on angle and I would control it from angle. But it is running and loaded in memory on watman.com in NJ.

That would be slow because of watman.com connection bandwidth, but on a 10-baset it's fast.
