To: Nadine Carroll who wrote (112359 ) 8/22/2003 8:53:13 PM From: Jacob Snyder Respond to of 281500 <Israel was never a party to the hudna.> Or to the Road Map, which calls on them to roll back the settlements, stop killing Palestinians, and allow "nomalization" of life in the Occupied Territories. Whatever road map the Israeli government is following, it's not the one the quartet published. Sharon's Road Map is just MoreOfTheSame. More of the same endless relentless pressure on the Non-Chosen People who inconveniently live on land God promised the Jews. The problem here, is overreach. The Wall, when completed, will not make Israelis secure, because it doesn't separate the two peoples. There are the 1.2 million Arabs in pre-1967 Israel, third-class "citizens" in a state explicitly established and run for and by other people. There are the 200,000 or so East Jerusalem Arabs, and more Arabs on the wrong side of the fence that will enclose Greater Jerusalem. The Arab population of the Jordan Valley. The Arabs between Ariel and the 1967 border. Suicide bombers will come from all these populations, all permanently hostile to Israel. Then there is the fact that the Wall cannot stop rockets, and Israel isn't able to stop rocket attacks from Palestinian-controlled areas. From the desperate ghettoes of Gaza and Bethlehem, the rockets will keep coming. Today, those rockets are crude things, a minor irritant. But their range will steadily increase, and the payloads will get deadlier. It's an inevitable progression, if things continue as they are. In order to be safe from rocket attacks, Israel would have to push back the hostile conquered peoples, a lot further away from Tel Aviv. Out of Jordan, out of south Lebanon. Your only answer is to shout endlessly: kill more Palestinians! The mirror image of Hamas methods. What will you say, when Hamas gets nuclear weapons? A second Holocaust is coming, that's the road we're on. All other paths to different futures are dismissed by those who see only violence as the way to solve all problems. No compromise, no concessions, no sharing, never. That's your program. The Star of David and the Cross and the Crescent seem determined to destroy each other and themselves. My Asherah will be planted on the ruins.
