Thanks for posting the Traub piece on Summers. It has all the usual and well known Traub biases so one has to take the many grains of salt when dealing with actual events and facts. But he writes well, gets a lot of arguments on the table.

As for the faculty, at least speaking of the social sciences and the humanities, a great deal may depend on whether he is seriously perceived as favoring rational choice theory in political science. That likely, even for folk in favor of that outcome, would tend to be viewed as economics meddling in political science; not a university president trying to do curriculum.
