I agree with your post.

However, I think as the world's beneficent (I hope) superpower, we have a duty to stop tyrants who are killing their own people, raping them, maiming them.

We acted in Kosovo. We acted in Iraq. We acted in Liberia.

I think we should have acted sooner in Kosovo, Liberia and other areas such Rwanda. I think we acted a bit too soon in Iraq as we should have waited another year just to see if we could get the world to go with us. The political motivations were followed and I disagree with that.

However, I support the US taking out a brutal regime if only to save the Iraqi people and their neighbors from more mass killings and torture and rape.
