Iraqis could rightly say that those lending Saddam money [or arms or whatever it was that creditors supplied] and buying his oil were the foundation of their oppression. Unfortunately, CNN and the French would have merely heightened their claims that 1/2 a million Iraqi children were dying from the sanctions... Nice thoughts, but who would abide by them? Ethics, while a very nice concept, are seldom upheld with hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake.. Hawk
