Why didn't they sell the house instead of running up idiotic credit card debt?

Sorry, I'm not terribly impressed with story of the plight of the middle class with a lot of pride. They seem to be making a series of bad decisions, except for the garnering of publicity.

Compare the Wessenberg's situation to 60% unemployment in Iraq, where those who do secure work might expect $1 per day***, or the situation in sub-Saharan Africa and the Wessenbergs appear to still be living a life of luxury, in spite of their psychological torments.

***What is so astonishing about this figure of $1/day for well educated Iraqis reduced to menial tasks by a brutal occupation is that the Iraq or Kuwait based management staff for Halliburton, the guys who are stealing the oil and failing to provide rations and barracks for the military are each raking in $10,000 per month, tax free.
