I'm a diehard Democrat. But, I have to say that the Democrats are their own worst enemies in a lot of cases. They don't play the PR game with the American people nearly as well as the Republicans do.

California has been trending Democratic for over a decade and is now a solidly liberal Democratic state. Gray Davis should be coasting there, despite the economic downturn and energy crises. It is his own poltical ineptitude that has brought on this recall. He should have managed the energy crises much better and taken action much sooner. Sometimes life isn't fair, and it certainly hasn't been very fair to Mr. Davis. But, he has an overwhelming idealogical advantage in a state like California. A little good PR during the energy crises, painting the Republicans and electric companies as being one in the same and doing some real actions to bring the situation under control, would have gone a long way in forming a decent public image in people's mind for Gray Davis.

Adios Mr. Davis. Things can't be much worse without him. I mean, how bad can Arnold Schwarzenager be? He's a very moderate Repubican. He might not win anyway. The Republican vote is going to be split amongst Arnold and a number of others, Busstemante (the Democrat) might just win the recall election by default, because of the overwhelming majority of Democratic voters in the state.
