Salame is right, of course. Leaving Iraq now, in a state of anarchy, would lead to civil war. And then almost anything could happen, from pulling in Iran to spreading chaos to the Arab sheikdoms of the Gulf -- which, by the way, control something like 60 percent of the world's oil reserves. No matter how tough things get, we cannot leave Iraq until it is mended.

So, our brilliant leaders in Washington may have gotten us into a real quagmire in Iraq. The death toll will mount on almost a daily basis as a soldier or two is killed in ambushes and other radom acts of violence and then there's going to be a big attack (just guessing) that will kill a dozen or more soldiers at one time and it will bring this whole ongoing Iraq war to the forefront. But, we can't cut loose, because we're in too deep already and if we leave chaos will follow, which may destabilize the entire gulf rich region. Ayyiee! I wish Gore had won! Perhaps he would have had the wisdom to keep us out of Iraq.
