If "weaker stocks drop further on a down turn and rise further in an up turn than the strongest in the sector", which is a better long term buy and hold strategy, weaker or stronger?

The key to investing is reliable future growth. Price should measure both the expected growth and the expected reliability. Good companies hold up because of both expectations. Good companies tend to meet expectations in good times.
